about her
Maria Mirenzi is a Philly-based indie alt-rock singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, saxophone, flute, clarinet, piano, accordion). Maria sings you a story with hazy, emotive vocals and an electric guitar in hand, hoping you can relate. Her songwriting is semi-autobiographical, haunting yet whimsical, constantly bouncing between hope and despair. Inspired by artists like Madison Cunningham, Neko Case and Andy Shauf, Maria captivates audiences with her narrative lyricism and rich harmonic world.
Her debut EP, set to be released in the fall of 2025, is in collaboration with producer and Grammy award-winning recording engineer, Matt Poirier, and features musicians, Lew D’Avanzo, Shane Luckenbaugh, Max Kulicke and Sean Markey. Singles “Suburban Nightmare” and “Let It Steep” bring us inside a deep emotional world where we are forced to grapple with our humanness. Her debut EP is a cathartic musical soundscape with danceable songs you can cry to.
Maria’s music has been featured on WXPN’s Midday show, she has opened for punk rock legend, Bob Mould, and has recorded with artists Mewithoutyou, Bedolina and Pat Parker.
Hear Maria ramble about growing up in the mountains, being a former student of jazz, and her obsession with finding the magic in all things in her episode on Philly’s longest running music podcast, 25 O’Clock with Dan Drago.
